“Icebreaker 2022-2023” – Strengthening Arctic Communities through Participation

Location: Kirkenes,
Year: 2022
Client: Nothing Hill and ICE Festival

Arctic communities face myriad challenges such as climate change and demographic decline. Our experts have engaged in the efforts to solve these challenges with the help of participatory planning methods and tools. Our goal is to create a system of processes that will strengthen participatory approaches and implicitly improve the quality of life in the region.

In the course of the project, Participation Factory developed and delivered an interactive conference module for idea gathering and needs mapping. The module was conducted in-person during the ICE Innovation Festival by our Senior Experts.

Data gathered in the course of this stage is now used for developing the next stages of the project and for further public participation in Kirkenes and other Arctic communities.
