Head of Innovative Projects and Strategies

Karel is an integral member of the Participation Factory team and holds the position of Head of Innovative Projects and Strategies. He enjoys trying new things, discovering and testing new methods and tools. This makes him a perfect fit to drive this agenda, where he introduces innovative approaches and sets up new services and products. He works on the design and implementation of innovative and strategic projects in the Czech Republic and abroad and together with his team ensures their smooth running.

During his time with Participation Factory, he successfully implemented the first Czechoslovak participation hackathon in cooperation with IPR Prague. He took part in creating the Citizen’s Assembly catalogue of deliberative processes in Central and Eastern Europe and led participatory processes for strategic plans in Pilsen and Říčany. Among other things, he implemented a participation diagnostics for an OGP Local member – the Shama region in Ghana. In the course of this project, he provided a careful analysis of the institutional preparedness for participation and consulted on the use of digital tools for the engagement of residents in a way that would guarantee their equal access to the process. His role also includes basic data analytics and facilitation of meetings of all scales.

Karel believes that a well-informed and properly engaged public is the key to a thriving society. He has an academic background in aesthetics in arts and culture, which gives him a fresh perspective on urban planning and conducting participatory projects. He is motivated by an opportunity to positively influence the urban environment and social landscape in the direction of sustainability and their openness to all its members.
