Context
The participatory process created a space for transparent discussion between the Prague-Lipence city district and the investor, who acquired extensive land in the area. The investor decided to engage in an open dialogue before starting construction planning on their plots. This way they could understand local community needs and expectations and take them into consideration in future development.
How we proceeded
Local council members and residents of Lipence had the opportunity to learn about the investor’s plans and share their own ideas and requirements for future construction. The participatory process included expert workshops for city council members, where independent specialists were invited to discuss key aspects of urban planning and the future direction of Lipence together with council members and investors.
Residents could also explore the current situation in Lipence and development possibilities at a participatory container, placed in the district for 10 days, or in a public meeting, which had a more discussion-focused format. Local associations and primary school students were also engaged in the process.
Results of participation
The outcome of the process was a set of inputs from the public, council members, and other stakeholders, which helped the investor understand the local context and define community needs.
